Obama's Commitment to Connect Disadvantaged Youth (972 hits)


In 2005,there were 17 million low - income sixteen-to twenty-four year olds out of school and unemployed who needed an opportunity to resume their education,find productive employment, and rebuild their lives.

President-Elect Obama wil establish a Green Job Corps to provide participants with service and job-training opportunities to improve energy conservaton and efficiency of homes and buildings in their communities.

In addition, he will expand the YouthBuild program that gives young people a chance to learn housing construction job skills and complete their high school education while they construct and rehabilitate affordable housing for low-income and homeless families.
